- Additional Anecdotes
- Barry Mullens (S'57) and Roger Tracey (S'57) were two of the charter members of the GHS Key Club. In June of 1956, they traveled with the California, Nevada, and Hawaii delegation to the International Key Club convention in Dallas, Texas. They took a train from Los Angeles to San Francisco, where they met the Hawaii delegation; traveled on to Salt Lake City, Colorado Springs, and finally to Dallas. The train "accommodations" consisted of individual seats that didn't recline. Yep, that's right -- no sleeping bunks. During the 3-day one-way train ride, Roger developed a rash in quite a sensitive area. When they went swimming in the Great Salt Lake, Roger learned one of "life's most memorable lessons" -- SALT AND RASHES ARE A PAINFUL MIX!
- Roger went on to become a member of the State Board of Directors of California Special Olympics, and played an important role in developing what that program has become. He also played a major role in putting on the Primetime Emmy Awards program for the Academy of Television, Arts, and Sciences for 12 years. He now lives on the Oregon Coast.
- Carolyn Day (S'57), now Carolyn Grove, lives in Mead, WA with her husband, Don.
